"This is an exciting day for Bricksburg and the Lego Republic," said Minister of Culture Marc Orsay, who is overseeing the planning of the project. "Our country will have a world-class institution where the people can enhance their understanding of art and culture."
The museum will also be used for private and public events, such as galas and future state dinners.
The start of construction comes at a time of high tension amid rapid militarization in the Lego world. Set off by the PBR and Federation of Legopolis's recent land grabs, an arms race is underway; Legopolis and the Empire of Legoland have announced major weapons advances in the past week.
The new art museum is partly intended to serve as a point of national pride, a confidential source within the Department of Culture reveals. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, the Lego Republic seeks to remain neutral as other states ready themselves for a possible conflict ahead. Internal improvements, as opposed to a military buildup, offer a way to inspire patriotism and gain popular support for President Bricks's administration without the risk of being dragged into a conflict in which the Republic wants no part.
