Speaker Tremblay and President Bricks held a joint press conference today in front of the Executive Office Building in Bricksburg to advocate for the stimulus package. An enthusiastic crowd attended in support.
"Times are tough for hardworking citizens of the Lego Republic. The economy has fallen short, and every minifig who wants a job should be able to find one. This bill will put more money in consumers' pockets; it will jump-start our stagnating economy. It also funds fantastic new government programs, such as a new defense initiative, that will keep us safe and provide good jobs. I applaud Speaker Tremblay for his leadership in writing this legislation, and I call on all MPs to pass it. Together, we will get the Lego Republic back to work!" said Bricks.
Gregory Studson, chief economic adviser to the president, said in a statement that the bill would greatly help the LR economy. "By increasing government spending on new programs, the stimulus package will shift aggregate demand in a positive direction, resulting in a net increase in production and employment. Ultimately, we will experience a rise in real GDP as a result of this expansionary fiscal policy," he said.
