In the midst of this fog of fear and uncertainty, LR President Bricks spoke this evening from her office in Bricksburg. Her brief address outlined her main foreign-policy objectives but also included some pointed lines intended for the PBR and Federation of Legopolis. Bricks's speech follows below.
Since the end of the devastating PBR Civil War in 2013 and the defeat of the secretive terrorist group Cobra last fall, the Lego world has settled into a status quo of peace – a peace marked with menacing shadows and hard choices, but a peace nonetheless. However, recent events have seriously endangered peace in the Lego world. In Ancarta, innocent citizens are losing their families, homes, and livelihoods. Military buildups threaten to launch an arms race that will gobble up our budgets – and our citizens. Unjustified territorial expansion brings armies within studs of neighbors' borders; land grabs rapidly diminish the remaining pristine, unsettled territory of our continent.
We must never forget that peace is not a default to which we will always return: peace is a goal, and we must ceaselessly work towards it. Peace does not come naturally; it comes as a result of friendly cooperation among neighbors, mutual trust, and the forgiveness of grievances. Only with struggle comes success. The pursuit of military power, authoritarian control, and territorial gains threatens to disrupt the peace that we have worked so hard to achieve. Regardless of a state's intentions, heavy weapons and infantry do not fail to make its neighbors feel nervous and vulnerable.
To this end, the Lego Republic invites all other countries – the Federation of Legopolis, with whom we just concluded a promising nuclear deal, the PBR, and the Empire of Legoland – to extend an olive branch instead of a rifle. The Republic seeks to work with those who wish to make the Lego world a better place and preserve the delicate blossom of peace."
